We are involved in a range of projects working across NSW to promote the human rights of people with disability from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds. We work with CALD communities, multicultural and disability sector service providers and policy makers to promote diversity and inclusion. We build capacity of mainstream service providers to become culturally appropriate through staff coaching, training and policy development.
Our team has been an active part of the NSW Disability Advocacy Alliance Campaign in response to the NSW government’s announcement to revoke all advocacy funding from June 2018. The campaign highlights the importance of advocacy services for people with disability and their families when accessing services and support and was successful in securing an additional 12 months funding for ECSC’s information, referral and advocacy program as well as for many other disability advocacy organisations involved in the alliance.
