Our Multicultural Disability Services team understand your needs. They have created a list of handy resources, including fact sheets and websites, that will assist you with the transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Many of the resources listed below can be found in different languages, making them important tools in helping to increase the participation of people with disability from CALD – Culturally And Linguistically Diverse  Communities, and their families, in activities that aim to prepare them for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

AMPARO

AMPARO Advocacy has produced two fact sheets to provide information to people from culturally and Linguistically diverse communities about disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) – 30 different Languages

The fact sheets are available in Amharic, Arabic, Bahasa Indonesian, Bosnian/Bosanski, Burmese, Chinese- Simplified, Chinese- Traditional, Croatian, Dari, Dinka, Farsi, French, Greek, Hindi, Hmong, Indonesian- see Bahasa Indonesian, Japanese, Italian/Italiano, Karen, Kirundi, Korean, Macedonian, Nepali, Samoan, Somali, Spanish, Serbian, Swahili, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Tongan, Turkish, Vietnamese and AUSLAN.

My Choice Matters

My Choice Matters has translated their most popular planning tools, Good Life workbooks 1, 2 & 3 into a number of community languages.

NDIA

The NDIA have fact sheets in easy English and several languages regarding the NDIS, including Arabic, AUSLAN, Greek, Korean,  Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese.

There are also a wide range of guides, factsheets and other resources available for Aboriginal People, as well as in easy English, as well as by district.

Family and Community Services, Ageing, Disability & Home Care

ADHC have part of their site translated regarding Ageing, Disability and Home Care.

Carers NSW have translated Fact sheets on Carer NSW, Carer Support Groups & The Impacts of residential Placement resources.

They are available in the following languages: Arabic, Bosnian, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Croatian, English, Greek, Italian, Khmer, Korean, Macedonian, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese.

Australian Competition & Consumer Commission

ACCC have translated a fact sheet – your rights when you buy something into several community languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Spanish, Filipino and Vietnamese.

This guide explains your consumer rights and the steps you can take to resolve problems. It is written in Easy English, which is more accessible for people who have difficulty reading and understanding written information. You can order a braille version of this publication by emailing a request to publications.unit@accc.gov.au
