CALD (Disability) Consumer Capacity Building Project

The CALD Capacity Building Project aims to build the capacity of people with disability from CALD backgrounds (and their carers and families) to better understand the rights of people with disability, the disability system in Australia, and how to access and prepare for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The objectives of CALD Capacity Building Project include:

  1. Understanding the unique needs and challenges of people with disability from CALD backgrounds.
  2. Raising awareness within CALD communities about disability, the NDIS and the disability supports in their area.
  3. Empowering potential disability service consumers from CALD communities to identify interests, goals, and supports that are relevant to their needs.
  4. Educating the disability sector about the diverse needs of people with disability from CALD backgrounds and methods for effective engagement.
  5. Strengthening links between CALD communities and local disability services.

The CALD Capacity Building Project is available to present information sessions on request to CALD groups. We can present information about the rights of people with disability, disability services, and preparing for the NDIS. Please contact us for more information.
