Cultural Treasure Chest

Multicultural Children’s Services is delivering (through funding received from Inner West Council Community Grants Program) an exciting, innovative program, ‘The Cultural Treasure Chest’ Program.

Combining multicultural supported playgroups and parenting sessions and facilitated by a Speech Pathologist and Bicultural Support Workers, the program will help promote positive bilingual language and literacy development within our playgroup community.

We will be facilitating two x 6 week child and family groups and each session will help to develop a personal cultural treasure chest for each family to take home.

Sessions will include activities, resources and shared experiences promoting positive bilingual language and literacy development in the home and community.

Benefits for families include:
•Positive interactions that support bilingual language development
•Improved confidence for children and oppurtunities to support being bilingual and sharing this with their family
•Families will feel more confident in practicing and promoting bilingualism
•Children and families will develop a strong sense of Being, Belonging, Becoming.
